Explore the changing emotions of the Easter story through art with this complete lesson plan and resources. This is a great lesson for children in KS1.
I have taught this a few times and it is a very memorable lesson that both the children and I enjoy immensely. The artwork is often thoughtful, moving and special, sparking great discussions and deep thinking. Try giving the children drawing the scene of Jesus on the cross some grey/black paper and red, black and white oil pastels (in contrast to the other groups who have all colours available to them) - it produces quite a startling effect.
I hope you enjoy teaching this one too!

A EYFS/KS1-friendly version of the Easter Story, perfect for assemblies and lessons about Easter.
The powerpoint tells the Christian story of Easter very simply and at the end there are some reflection questions for the children to discuss.
Children write the Easter story in their own keepsake booklet. There are 10 pages for writing on in total, including a reflection page at the end. Each page has simple illustrations for the children to colour and space to write about the Easter story. The booklet matches up with the images used in my Easter Story powerpoint: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/the-easter-story-powerpoint-11552562
Print the pdf as is, double-sided, and make sure you tick the ‘flip on the short edge’ option. The booklet will print out in the correct order and you simply need to fold the pages in half.
Enjoy!
